Avertium acquisition, new product and customer experience leadership, strong partnership with Sublime, and MaxxAI position CyberMaxx for continued growth with customers and partners
LINTHICUM HEIGHTS, Md. — October 7, 2026 — CyberMaxx, a leading Managed Detection and Response provider for mid-market organizations, today announced a series of investments in people, technology, and capabilities that reflect the company’s continued growth and its commitment to delivering the best possible solutions for customers and partners. In recent months, CyberMaxx has grown through the Avertium acquisition, appointed Chris Ford as Chief Product Officer, added Alex Cypert as Senior Director, Customer Experience, expanded MaxxMDR with new managed email security, and advanced it’s AI capabilities throughout every layer of the platform.
“Every investment we make comes back to one question: does it make our customers and partners more secure? The past year has shown our answer. We are growing, we are building, and we are more committed than ever to the mid-market,” said Brian M. Ahern, CEO of CyberMaxx. “These recent investments give us more resources and capabilities to serve our customers in the way they deserve.”
To guide its next stage of growth, CyberMaxx has invested in critical leadership positions. Chris Ford joined the company as Chief Product Officer, where he leads Product Management, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, and IT Operations and directs the ongoing advancement of MaxxAI, the company’s AI platform. Ford brings more than 20 years of experience building and leading product management, product marketing, user experience, and engineering organizations. Most recently, he served as Vice President at F5, where he built and led the AI Center of Excellence.
“I joined CyberMaxx because the mid-market deserves the same level of protection as the largest enterprises, and this team is built to deliver it.,” said Ford. “As a tech-enabled services company, we can build best-of-breed AI into every layer of the platform and pair it with experienced analysts, so we move at the speed attackers do. That is a rare opportunity, and I’m excited to be a part of it.
CyberMaxx has strengthened Customer Success, one of the company’s core pillars, with the addition of Alex Cypert as Senior Director, Customer Experience. Cypert leads the Customer Success team and is focused on driving measurable improvements in customer satisfaction across the managed security services portfolio. His background includes BlueVoyant, Convergence Networks, Deepwatch, Bitdefender, and Rackspace Managed Security. His appointment reflects CyberMaxx’s belief that customers deserve layered support, the same way they get layered security, from the first sales conversation through onboarding and every day after.
These investments in people support a growing MaxxMDR platform. CyberMaxx continues to add technology partners and solutions to cover the five attack vectors attackers exploit most: identity, email, endpoint, network, and cloud. Most recently, CyberMaxx partnered with Sublime to deliver MDR for Email, a fully managed email security solution that combines expert configuration, AI-driven threat detection, and inline protection. The 24x7x365 service provides API-based threat prevention for M365 or Google, with automatic remediation of malware and ransomware. This allows customers to get critical defense on one of the most exploited attack vectors without taking on the burden of owning and operating another tool in their stack.
Across all five attack vectors, MaxxAI powers MaxxMDR. MaxxAI is the orchestration of tech-enabled AI and human expertise within MaxxMDR. CyberMaxx didn’t add an AI feature on top of an existing service. CyberMaxx built AI into every layer of the platform, from the moment data arrives through alert correlation and investigation. At every stage, AI does the heavy lifting, and human security expertise leads the way. MaxxAI delivers threat detection in under 1 minute and confirmation of escalated attacks in under 20 minutes. It investigates 100% of alerts, resolves 98% of commodity alerts automatically, and achieves 95% true positive accuracy. Customers see 100% performance metrics through CyberSight.
These investments build on the momentum the company has gained through the recent acquisition of Avertium, a Microsoft-focused cybersecurity firm specializing in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) and offensive security. The acquisition expands what CyberMaxx delivers for the mid-market. The combination integrates Avertium’s “Assess. Design. Protect.” methodology with CyberMaxx’s detection and response platform and adds further GRC capabilities, extended offensive security services, and Premier Microsoft-focused cybersecurity solutions. CyberMaxx can now serve customers across their entire security journey, from initial risk assessment through continuous protection. With the addition of Avertium, CyberMaxx is now a nearly 300-person organization.
“We are continuing to build a durable company that invests in the right people and the right solutions for the long term. I’m excited about what the next chapter holds for our customers, our partners, and our team,” said Ahern.
